A Day at The Haefen Independent SEMH School

Every day at The Haefen is built to give your child the right balance of structure, support, and opportunities to shine.

The school day begins at 9:00am with a structured physical activity, helping pupils to get moving and feel ready for the day. This is followed by a calm wellbeing session, creating a positive and settled start.

Learning is broken into short, personalised activities, with regular movement and sensory breaks to keep children focused and comfortable. Each day also includes time to learn outdoors, whether that’s exploring the forest, enjoying the beach, or tending to our allotment.

Practical, hands-on learning is an important part of life at The Haefen. Pupils take part in activities such as cooking, design technology, and PE, alongside their core subjects, to build skills and confidence in different areas.

Because every child is unique, their learning is individually planned each day, ensuring that across the week they experience the full curriculum in a way that works best for them.

The day ends at 3:00pm with reflection and celebration time. Here, each pupil spends time with a trusted adult, sharing what they’ve achieved and looking ahead to their next steps. It’s a calm and positive way to finish the day, helping children to leave school feeling proud of themselves, ready and excited to return.

At The Haefen, no two days are ever quite the same, but every day is full of opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.
